Framed Florals Flowers // From You to Me!
Four years ago, Framed Florals became a concept to me when I couldn't find someone to preserve my wedding flowers. I googled and searched all over the internet to find someone in Brooklyn to help me, and came up empty.
When I made the decision to officially launch this business, I knew I wanted to be able to serve brides, grooms, & their families, from all over, not just Brooklyn.
Thanks to USPS- that's very possible! In fact, the flowers featured traveled all the way from Los Angeles!
If you're looking to ship your flowers, here's an easy guide to do so!
Step 1:
Whether you are shipping your bouquet or a sampling of flowers, make sure all the stems are tied together. You can do this with a rubber band. We don't want flowers bouncing around too much during transit! Take a wet paper towel and wrap the ends of the stems so they have enough water to drink while traveling. To make sure the paper towels don't leak in your box, wrap them in plastic saran wrap, or a plastic bag. Secure that with a rubber band too! Please remove any ribbons, silk ties, or anything attached to the bouquet that you would like to keep, it also keeps the stems in better condition and they get less mushy in transit. (Anything wrapped around the bouquet will not be returned.)
Step 2:
To ensure the petals and blooms don't bruise during transit, wrap them lightly with tissue paper or kraft paper. Do not wrap the blooms or bouquet in a plastic bag / plastic. This traps moisture and speeds up the wilting process making the flowers not ideal for pressing.
Step 3:
Time to get your shipping box ready! Tape and secure an ice pack, (preferably disposable) to the bottom or side of the box. Make sure it's away from the petals! This will ensure a cold environment for your flowers during their trip. Make sure to place the ice pack in a ziplock bag so no moisture is released. Wetness and moisture will rapidly deteroirate the flowers. Make sure no petals or blooms are touching the ice pack directly, this will wilt the flowers.
Step 4:
You're almost done! Place the wrapped flowers into the box, and lightly fill the box with tissue paper, newspaper, or any paper to ensure the flowers don't move around too much while they're being delivered! If you use bubble wrap please make sure the petals and flowers aren’t touching the plastic. Bubble wrap should only be used to pad the bottom of the box, as plastic on the flowers will increase deterioration.
Make sure you add a piece of paper inside the box with your name. (The studio receives a lot of flowers and we need to keep track of who they’re from.)
Please read before shipping! Remember:
Putting a trusted family member, friend, or wedding planner in charge of this task is best! After your wedding the last thing on your mind is going to be shipping flowers, so ask someone organized to help with this! Send them this blog post so they can follow along easily!
Get all supplies the week before so you’re not scrambling on Monday to find a box and icepack. That way on Monday morning you can overnight them super quickly without any hiccups!
We’ve found UPS is the most reliable carrier to the studio, USPS is a close second! Fed Ex is not recommended as they are the least reliable.
If you're mailing your flowers, pack that box with whatever flowers you can! The flowers from your bouquet tend to be the most bruised & wilted from being out of water all day. A bouquet + centerpiece flowers are the best combo! Flowers from the centerpiece are in the best shape as they’ve been in water and untouched all day!
If your event takes place over the weekend, please keep flowers in cool clean water until you can ship them on Monday. Keep your flowers in water & in a cool place up until shipment!
If your wedding takes place on Friday you can ship on Saturday. If your wedding takes place on Saturday or Sunday you can overnight them on Monday. As long as the flowers are in water and kept cool up until shipment, they will be fine to ship a day or two after the wedding.
After shipment, add lacie@framedflorals.com to receive tracking updates. Once the package has a tracking number, forward the number to lacie@framedflorals.com - the studio needs to know when the package is arriving.
You don't need to require a signature on this delivery! That means, if I miss the mail carrier I'll still be ensured to get the flowers that day.
Add your name to the inside of the box or add a note so we know who the package is from.
Please Note: If you do not follow shipping instructions, Framed Florals is not liable for expired or wilted flowers. By sending your flowers you agree to & accept this, and recognize only the usable flowers will be pressed.
Ta-Da! Now your flowers are ready to be shipped off to Brooklyn, to be turned into a beautiful keepsake!
You will hear from Framed Florals in around 8 weeks with composition framing options!
