This weekend I had the great pleasure and honor of doing the flowers for my dear friends wedding. Their wedding was a small elopement ceremony, and an intimate dinner. Small and simple. The flowers reflected that, whites and greens with tiny pops of color from Thistle flowers.

The majority of the flowers came from a very special little flower shop...lovely place.. the one and only, Trader Joe's. For the extra Ruscus and Caspia flowers the local bodega came in handy. I was able to fill five little jars easily, and the clippings became tiny little boutonnières. They looked like tiny little versions of the bouquet I made. All wrapped in burlap and twine. My in-laws backyard served as a floral studio, a perfect backdrop to the sweet little arrangements I put together. Chickens in the backyard over clucked as I clipped away.

With the leftover stems of Caspia flowers I made a few floral crowns for my best friend, the bride, to decide between. She went with the simple crown, and it fit the look and feel of the wedding perfectly. While I'm generally on the other end of weddings, receiving flowers and preserving them for the memory of the special day, I was so happy to be a part of the flowers from start to finish. My favorite arrangement came back home to Brooklyn with me, and I'm so grateful to be entrusted to turn it into a preserved piece of art.
